If you’re looking to distinguish yourself as a green residential remodeling professional, REGREEN® is for you. The REGREEN Trained™ curriculum was developed by ASID and builds on foundational knowledge of the REGREEN Residential Remodeling Guidelines© to assist you in identifying and evaluating which green considerations, concepts and strategies will make a meaningful and positive impact in your next project. REGREEN courses build participant skills in integrated pre-design issues and strategies by building system and project specific planning and implementation issues. 1. Introduction to the REGREEN Residential Remodeling Program*

Green remodeling is the design and construction of projects that reduce the environmental impacts of renovation and utilize non-toxic materials for healthy, high-performing interiors. This course features REGREEN©, the green residential remodeling program that emphasizes whole-house systems thinking, professional integration, and green design methodologies. By the end of this course, participants will be able to explain REGREEN principles, access the REGREEN Guidelines in two formats, perform a comprehensive home assessment, identify climate and site characteristics in REGREEN case studies, and implement REGREEN strategies into their next remodeling project. 2. REGREEN: Integrated Project Design and Delivery

This course highlights the integrated design process that helps keep stakeholders focused on a mutually agreed upon mission statement. When sustainability goals establish health as a priority, all design choices can be couched in terms of “first, do no harm.” By the end of this course, participants will be able to establish green remodeling best practices, create a mission statement, goals, and priorities that define the level of sustainability for a project, and communicate a project’s vision to team members according to their communication style and preferences. 3. REGREEN: Materials Selection and the Specification Process

This course expands upon the strategies found in the REGREEN Residential Remodeling Guidelines© and delves into the details of the designer’s role in creating effective design and materials directives. By the end of this course, participants will be able to assess the health and environmental impact of materials using third-party certifications; select durable, non-toxic building materials, furniture, and finishes that contribute to healthy IAQ; specify lighting, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and equipment that maximize energy and water efficiency and ensure healthy IEQ and thermal comfort; write comprehensive and detailed specifications to unequivocally communicate design intent and materials selection; and customize interactions with every team member, subcontractor, and trade according to their communication style and preferences. 4. REGREEN: Client Education & Stakeholder Involvement

This course delves into the language of sustainability and effective approaches to engaging and educating the client.By the end of this course, participants will be able to discuss sustainability principles and strategies with a client; create a mission statement and priorities that define the level of health and sustainability of a project; educate the client and stakeholders about products and practices that conserve water and energy, reduce waste, and contribute to healthy indoor environmental quality; and create a homeowner’s manual that highlights green features, safe operating procedures, non-toxic cleaning/maintenance practices, and healthier lifestyle choices. 5. REGREEN: Health Impacts of Buildings & Interior Materials 
Format: Self-paced, online course

This course shows you how to assess the health impact of materials using third-party certifications, HPD, and LCA. It also demonstrates how to determine if building materials and FF&E contain chemicals of concern and, if so, how to research and specify safer alternatives. Because of the growing number of clients with chemical sensitivities and issues with electromagnetic fields, this course includes methodologies to vet benign options and steps to mitigate exposure. The REGREEN Implementation Workshop is led by REGREEN faculty and designed to help participants implement strategies outlined in the REGREEN Residential Remodeling Guidelines© by effectively using a whole-house systems approach on a variety of residential projects and emphasizing the value of an integrated team of building industry professionals that can ensure successful outcomes. REGREEN Trained certificate of completion

Professionals who successfully complete the REGREEN Trained curriculum will receive a Certificate of Completion and access to the REGREEN Trained mark for use on business cards, letterhead, and website to visually demonstrate their accomplishment in the marketplace. Certificate of Completion holders will also receive online recognition on this website and ASID.org.
